Trendsi Tips: Facebook Commerce


Are you using Facebook as a sales channel? If not, now is the perfect time to start because they just announced an amazing change that will be beneficial to small business owners.


Facebook will revise the algorithm to not only recommend businesses that friends interact with, but also businesses they think someone may be interested in. That means you do not need to pay for Facebook ads in order to gain organic traffic.


Setting Up Facebook Commerce


Approximately 2.8 billion people use Facebook each month. That is a lot of potential traffic to your website and Facebook gives you access to tools that reach those people for free. Yes, FREE!


To get started, you must have a personal Facebook account and then set up a Business Page. To do so, go to facebook.com/pages/create and you can set one up within a few minutes. After that, you will need to apply and be approved for a commerce account.

Once it’s approved, you can also set up Instagram Shop for free.


Tip- If it takes longer than two weeks for your commerce account to be approved, I suggest reaching out to Facebook support to have them speed up the process.


If you’re a Shopify store owner, you can sync your store directly by logging into your admin account and adding Facebook as a sales channel. Refer to this guide by Shopify.

Once your Facebook shop is ready to go, you have access to a plethora of free tools to use like their Creator Studio where you can plan and schedule posts to both Facebook and Instagram, Business Suite where you can see analytics or set up automated messaging replies, and Commerce Manager to manage your products.

Facebook is a great sales channel to consider if you want to increase traffic and brand awareness. This, however, does not mean you will see an increase in sales by simply adding this channel. You will need to post regularly and encourage engagement. Try going live to show some behind-the-scenes or product details. Show your audience the personality behind your brand or store instead of just posting products.
